Ajijic Recycles!

The Ajijic Recycling Center is a volunteer-driven organization dedicated to building a culture of recycling and reducing environmental impact in our beautiful Lakeside area. It started as a grassroots effort in the fall of 2018 by Tom Thompson (owner of Barbara's Bazaar) and became an A.C. (offical nonprofit) in 2022.

Our goal is to make recycling accessible and to motivate and empower  our Lakeside community to recycle responsibly and to keep our environment clean. We serve as a collection site for recycling materials, helping to reduce the amount of waste going into landfills.

A natural result of recycling the books we received was the creation of a bookstore. Instead of recycling thousands of perfectly good books, we decided to give them a second life. Today, the bookstore offers gently used books to the community, with all proceeds directly supporting the recycling operations at Ajijic Recycling Center.

We are located at Carretera Jocotepec-Chapala #917A, Ajijic, on the mountainside, 3/4 of a mile west of Panchos West and open Mondays through Saturdays from 9am - 2pm.
