Volunteers are the heartbeat of the recycling center. Whether you're helping sort materials, lending a hand in our bookstore, or keeping things running smoothly, your time truly matters. No matter how you choose to get involved, we welcome you with open arms.

Whether you have a few hours a week or a special skill to share, there's a place for you at the Ajijic Recycling Center. Please review the volunteer opportunities below, complete the I Would Like to Volunteer form, and a member of our team will contact you.
Volunteer Opportunities
♻️ Recycling Sorter (2 hours per AM or PM shift/week)
Help sort recyclable materials and keep items flowing efficiently through the center. This hands-on role is essential to reducing waste and keeping recyclables out of landfills.
🌎 Bilingual Greeter & Educator (2 hours per AM or PM shift/week)
Welcome community members as they drop off recyclables, answer questions, and help people understand what goes where. Spanish–English bilingual skills are especially valuable.
📚 Bookstore Volunteer (2 hours per AM or PM shift/week)
Greet customers, assist with book sales, and help maintain our welcoming, community-focused bookstore — all while supporting our recycling mission.
📱 Social Media & Digital Support (project based, flexible hours)
Help tell our story online. Create content, design graphics, update the website, or assist with social media posts to raise awareness and engage the community.
🎓 Education & Outreach (project based, flexible hours)
Support the development of educational programs and materials that teach the public about recycling, waste reduction, and environmental responsibility.
📣 Communications & Outreach (project based, flexible hours)
Help spread the word about our programs, events, and impact through newsletters, flyers, community announcements, and partnerships.
💰 Financial Assistance (2-3 hours per month)
Assist our Treasurer with financial planning, tracking, and oversight.
