Located in a room adjacent to the Ajijic  Recycling Center, our Bookstore is a community treasure and is growing to become the largest bookstore in the Chapala Lakeside region.

With thousands of books spanning a wide range of interests — from fiction, sci-fi/fantasy, poetry, and classics to gardening, travel, health, self-help, philosophy, politics, Mexican history, and more — readers of all ages and tastes will find something to enjoy.

You’ll also find books in Spanish and other foreign languages, large print editions, technical and educational volumes, children’s books, biographies, humor, cookbooks, and an array of subjects that reflect the diverse interests of our vibrant community.

Prices are affordable (paperbacks require a $10 peso donation, hardbacks require a $20 peso donation and  coffee table  books are available for a  $50 donation), making it easy to browse, discover, and take home a great read while supporting our recycling efforts.
 

More than just a bookstore, our space embodies the spirit of reuse and community. Volunteers help sort, shelve, and curate titles, creating a welcoming atmosphere where visitors can linger, chat about books, and even pull up a chair to read.

 

Whether you’re dropping off recyclables at the center or donating books you no longer need, this unique combination of environmental stewardship and literary delight brings people together. The bookstore thrives on the generosity of donors and the time of dedicated volunteers, turning donated books into valued resources for readers while reinforcing the principles of sustainability that guide the Ajijic Recycling Center’s broader mission.
