Recycling at the Ajijic Recycling Center is about more than sorting materials — it's about caring for the place we call home. When you recycle with us, you become part of a local solution to a global problem.

How to Recycle

Recycling at the Ajijic Recycling Center is easy — and every thoughtful step you take helps our volunteers and improves recycling outcomes. We encourage residents and visitors to bring clean, sorted recyclables to the Recycling Center during our operating hours, Monday - Saturday | 9am - 2pm.

In addition to drop-offs at the Recycling Center facility, many neighborhoods have Cestos, (metal collection baskets) where recyclables may be deposited.  Municipal workers collect materials (there is no specific schedule) from the Cestos and deliver them to the Recycling Center.

Tips to Make Recycling Easier for Our Volunteers

• Rinse food containers to remove residue

• Remove caps and lids

• Flatten aluminum cans, Tetra Pak-style cartons, and large clear plastic water bottles

• Keep cardboard and paper separate from other recyclables

• Please do not tear paper into small pieces, as it can no longer be recycled
